WHAT IS MIND OVER MATTER FITNESS?

Mind Over Matter Fitness Ltd is a company dedicated to helping people reach their desired fitness goals, challenge stigma around disability in not only the fitness industry, but all aspects of life, and inspire one or two people along the way! Founded by myself – Rob Ghahremani.

WHY DID I SET UP MIND OVER MATTER FITNESS?

From the outset life has been a challenge for me. I suffered spinal cord injury at the age of 10 months old resulting in me becoming a full time wheelchair user. Despite my daily struggle, I have spent my lifetime challenging norms and changing perceptions by showing just how much can be with the right mindset achieved, regardless of your situation. Through experience I have seen that the fitness industry, much like the rest of the world, still isn’t as inclusive and understanding as it should be – whether that be through lack of understanding from fitness professionals, accessibility of the venue itself and its equipment, or even through their membership options. I hope to be able to provide solutions to these problems through Mind Over Matter Fitness.

WHAT DO I HOPE TO ACHIEVE THROUGH MIND OVER MATTER FITNESS?

Everybody is facing their own daily battle that we know nothing about. From experience I have seen that some of the biggest positives and motivations arise when faced with the greatest adversity. Through Mind Over Matter Fitness I hope to be able to share not just my story, but the stories of those who I have helped throughout my lifetime (and how, in turn, others have helped me). After already making a big impact in my own locality, I hope to be able to inspire, educate, and help a much larger (hopefully worldwide!) audience. Come join and be a part of the #MOVMMovement!

HOW DOES FITNESS MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

Not all transformations are visible. Having a healthy coping mechanism is so important in the day and age that we live in. There are stresses and anxieties in almost everything that we partake in. For me, that coping mechanism has always been physical activity. I found that fitness: strengthened my muscles and improved my health which made me much more capable of coping with my physical disability; improved my confidence; reduced my stress levels and anxiety; allowed me to meet lots of incredible people; and improved my all round quality of life.
